shel, are you sure itâs this way?â Asked his father again. His expression was more serious than usual and also tinged with concern. He huddled under his thick fur coat. The night had grown stark. The sky was clear and the snow was beginning to freeze.
Ashel turned his head back and nodded. As soon as he had told his father everything that had happened to him, the banker had stood up, had taken his coat and had called his son with the door to the street open without saying a word, waiting for him to go out. Rage shone in his eyes. Neither Ashel nor his mother had understood anything.
âWhere are you going?â Nora demanded at once. She walked over to her husband and put her right hand on his arm.
âAshel, Iâm not going to wait until tomorrow,â he replied, looking at his son. âThe police have to know all this,â he snapped. He kissed his wife on the lips. âI love you, Nora.â

The boy had no doubt that his father would settle accounts with all of them after the funeral, because there were no excuses for not saying farewell to Narah, because she did not deserve such contempt.
âWe appreciate that your son has such good information, Mr. Carroh, so that we can put an end to this terror that has settled in the city,â Ashel heard The Marked One say.
Among all the guards in the city, he must be among the group, Ashel had thought as soon as he saw him at the police station, in a terrible anguish. That man had no mercy on anyone. What would he do to the old man and the girl? Ashel was blaming them for being responsible for his sisterâs death, but what evidence did he have? The girl knew that the body had been found in the forest, however, it was normal, considering that the news in Verno spread like wildfire...
Because of that detail she was free to be the culprit? They had helped him, true, or so he had noticed both times since, as he had thought hours ago, if they had wanted to do something to him they would have already done it, and they would not have allowed him to leave, although the last time the old man had not been very nice when he had seen him at the door.
The problem was that anger was blinding him. If they were not the killers, if
